Will I lose metafields if I change my theme?

Switching to a new theme won't delete metafields, but it might affect your shop’s storefront.

Sounds sad, but there's a good reason for that - in order to display metafields on the storefront, one must add a respective Liquid code snippet. Some themes feature the functionality to display metafields by default, however, most likely your metafields won’t be displayed on the storefront as they used to.

We recommend you to consult with your theme developer before switching to another theme to make sure that this process won’t have negative affect on neither your store’s design nor functionality.
